I would say Synthetic oil is good for around 7,500 to 10,000 mile range depending on whether you drive more in the city or highway. Also the amount of oil capacity of the engine will also effect the life of the oil. City driving being the most strenuous on the engine and requiring more frequent oil changes.
If you go to Retiro (train station) there are several trains going south to Patagonia, However I strongly recommend you fly to Patagonia, go to Puerto Madryn or Ushuaia in either Aerolineas Argentinas or Pluna, or Sky, sometimes it's not that expensive and it's better to fly than spend hours and hours in a train or bus. If you dont want to fly, then I recommend train, not bus. Go to Retiro in Buenos Aires and there you'll see the schedule.

Well, I was born and lived in Argentina for 11 years, now I live in Canada.
When I lived there, everything was fine. Of course, there was crime, like any other city. It's WAS a really good place to visit. Why "was"? Because now, the government is crap, allot of crime and stuff like that.
But you could still go on Wikipedia and check out an article on Buenos Aires.
